(More customer reviews)I purchased this about half a year ago, and while it does seem to work somewhat (I can tell from dust in the filter.) The noise level increases greatly with age. It was never anything close to whisper quiet, but now it is about half the sound decibels of a running lawnmower. While I could tolerate it enough to turn it on when I was out of my room, it is now loud enough that people living in the dorm next to me can here it throughout the day. In addition to this, the effectiveness of it is dying as it gets louder. I am generally pleased with the things I buy from Amazon based on the reviews, and so despite at least six years of membership (in one way or another) this is the first review I have written. Before this I never had reason enough to warn other consumers.
