(More customer reviews)First - the reviewers that recount experiences of bad smells from their filters need to undrstand that wick humidifiers, like the HB 05920 and 05921, require that an anti-bacterial solution be added to the water tank when filling. This solution, I use "Golden Solution" (try Google), prevents mold and algae from forming on the filter and in the tank. This prevents the odors and gets you a couple months out of your filter if you run your unit 24/7 like me.
Second - there are other replacement filters on the market that are the same size as the HB True Air replacement filter and cost half as much.
I use two HB True Air humidifiers and usually stock up on 4 filters each for the 6 months they run continously in my loft. I have a couple True Air filters and a couple Best Air filters right now and cannot tell the difference between them when it comes to performance. The name brand True Air's keep their shape better, but for nine bucks, I'm not worried about the asthetics of the inside of my humidifier.

I am a smoker and my wife is not but I no longer have to open the door when I smoke I just sit near the purifier and we are both happy, lol,
Also I live in Las Vegas such a dusty city in the deset and our apartment is so much cleaner now. I see the filter and have cleaned it once not because I had to just a personal preference.
some may say there is noisy on high but really it is not bad, low and medium there is no sound at all. I just keep it on high because I smoke.
I had a hard time choosing which model to buy but glad did not rush and picked this one. no filters to replace ionizer if I want, osilating if I want, I am very please would recommend it to anyone.

The reason is your shipping costs which are outragious. The shipping costs more than the product itself and here I can go to Drugstore.com where it is free shipping and the item is less also.
I do buy books periodically from this site and do not remember such a high shipping cost. You can well be assured I will find out before I buy.

(More customer reviews)Bad enought to pay shipping and a high cost per filter. Was not a 3M filtrete or any type of 3M. It actually didn't have any name. It was more like the fuzzy pleated type that go into your furnace. This company makes custom filters, so you are getting a custom size, generic filter. Too bad they show a picture of a genuine 3M filter online, or I would not have wasted my money and time on this. If you return the filter, you have to cover the return shipping, and the handling cost is non-refundable. I guess with the high cost of shipping, and the postage to return, they expect people not to bother. Save yourself the time and disapointment.

Hamilton Beach TrueAir 04712 Allergen Reducing Filter Review

(More customer reviews)This filter does not need to be replaced every 120 days. You can get by, by vacuuming it and reuse it a few times. Compared to the price of other filters, this filter is fairly inexpensive. Currently, Amazon has the `Buy 4, Get 1 Free' deal on this. With that noted, I have tried Daniel Sessoms' suggestion (found in TrueAir 04712 filter review) on how to make the "Hamilton Beach TrueAir 04381 Allergen Reducer" purifier more HEPA-like. What I did was add a carbon filter to the TrueAir 04712 Filter by purchasing the "Honeywell 38002 Enviracare Universal Replacement Pre-Filter" (an inexpensive carbon filter). From just one Honeywell 38002 carbon filter, I was able to cut up 12 pieces for the TrueAir 04712 filter (The cut up pieces of carbon filter factor to be only $0.65 a piece based on price I purchased at). Next, I just simply tape one piece of the cut up Honeywell 38002 carbon filter to the front side of the TrueAir 04712 filter with regular masking tape (taped up edges to filter). The carbon filter will now act as an extra layer of filter, to prevent dust & also clean up some odor.
Every 120 days (or whenever carbon filter turns `gray' due to dust accumulation), I would just remove & throw away the carbon filter, but keep the actual TrueAir 04712 filter (to reuse again). I vacuum the dust off the TrueAir 04712 filter, and tape a new piece of carbon filter to the same side of TrueAir 04712 filter as before. This is to prevent dust on the filter, in case my vacuum didn't pick them all up, from getting suck back into my room again. And when putting back the filter into the purifier, I would make sure to leave the carbon filter facing outward. After doing this carbon filter add-on to the filter, the Hamilton Beach TrueAir 04381 purifier does seem to work better. At least now, not only does it remove dust & pollen, it can also remove odors.

However, I was surprised after installing my first replacement set of odor filters that my purifier (model 04163) ran much quieter at the lowest speed setting. I'm not entirely sure of the added electrical cost of running these filters (I have pet birds that generate a lot of dust and dander and the filters run 24/7), but it may be that the reduced fan speed to get the same air discharge will save me money. Nice!

(More customer reviews)To start, I just want to let it be known that I've had my Hamilton Beach TrueAir Allergen Reducer for all of a week... But there's been so much of a difference that I couldn't wait any longer to write this review.
I've never had any hardcore allergies to cats or dogs, and I love pets. When I married my wife, I became Dad to her six cats. Long hair, shorthair, hair everywhere. And a few months ago, I began noticing that waking up in the morning was getting increasingly unpleasant. As of last month (and I'll try not to be overly graphic) I was waking up without fail each day with what felt like a concrete mixer behind my eyes. Congested every morning, and having to take extra-long, piping hot showers to feel any better... usually followed by at 500 mg of Tylenol and an additional allergy medicine.
So I saw this Allergen Reducer for a 210 square foot room online and decided the price was right to give it a shot (replacement filters are less than $15 each, which was also an acceptible cost). Our bedroom is about that size exactly, and since we usually have at least three cats in bed with us at any given time during the night, it seemed worthy of the investment.
After four days of having this machine on in our room (with the one door usually open only enough for the cats to enter and exit), I'm happy to report that each day I have (waked? woken? waken?) to a 99% improvement. I'll certainly come back to this review in future months to update, but there has been such an enormous difference within a very short time that I wanted to tell others who might be currently experiencing what I have in the past that this device might provide much welcomed relief, and quickly!

So, I made room for it in the bathroom. Am I ever glad I did. That thing will NEVER leave the bathroom again! When you're finished in the bathroom, there is NO odor. Great for having guests over during the holidays. You know how there is always ONE who really lights up the bathroom? If you don't know, then you're probably the one I'm talking about. Anyway, the odor removal appliance works great for those special events. It's a great investment. It doesn't cover odors, it ELIMINATES them! Even when we spray our fragrance in the bathroom, the smell never leaves the room. I can't say enough about it. Okay, I can. And, I'll wrap it up here. Buy it, you won't be sorry. I'm getting more for other parts of the house.

(More customer reviews)I reviewed several air purifiers before purchasing the Hamilton Beach 04160 with UV light unit. With all the misleading information on HEPA fitlers, ionic and electrostatic units on the market it can be hard to find exactly what you need. My son has asthma and we all have air borne allergies. Since installation of the unit, in the family room and bed room, the level of dust has decreased and my son has not had an asthmatic attack either. All air purifiers make noise. I give the level of noise a #2 with #1 being very quite. For the price of the unit, price of replacement parts and the quality of performance Hamilton Beach is the one I selected.

When I placed it in my bedroom the air was so clean ......forgot how clean air and less irritation in my nose felt . Now I know . It might be big but it does a man size job . I love it and you'll love it to .
Just to let you know the pre filter has to replaced when dirty . It has a notation on the display to let you know when . The hepa filter can be vacumned when dirty to be used again .

(More customer reviews)I actually bought this at Bed Bath & Beyond after checking out every single one of their air purifiers. I chose this one because it has 3 settings, an ionizer that doesn't produce ozone, and a hepa filter that works down to 5 microns or something like that.
I have EXTREMELY bad allergies and asthma to pets, and I also have 2 dogs (I know, I'm crazy). When I don't use this purifier I can definitely tell a difference.. I can't breathe! I was sooo so happy to have finally bought this. It was a little more then I wanted to spend but TOTALLY worth it.
I'm actually writing this review right now because I just went to clean the filter and it was SO GROSS! The carbon and hepa filters were both covered in dust and dog hair. I couldn't believe all the crud that this thing got out of the air. (Actually, I couldn't believe how much crap just floats around in the air like that, that we breathe in!) Actually seeing everything that this thing captures is amazing, and I'm so glad I can breathe clean air now.
The high setting is a little loud but I only use that when I first turn it on. The manual recommends to use this setting when you want to clean all the air in a room in 15 minutes. So after a while I turn it on to whisper mode and it's pretty quiet. Of course you can tell it's there.. just like a whisper.. but it's not reallllyy noticable.
Great product, & I love that the hepa filter is permanent and easy to clean, and you can actually see that it works. (and I think it's worth mentioning that this is the first product review I've ever written. That's how much I like it!)

Hamilton Beach 04492 True-Air Tower Ionic Air Purifier Review

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these at Wal-Mart to replace an expensive Honeywell that I had in my house for many years. It finally died and I went to buy another one just like it, but it was no longer available. I decided to try to this one and have been very impressed.
The unit is quiet, not like the other review. The auto setting automatically adjusts when the air is dirty. In the morning after my wife sprays her hairspray, the unit in our bedroom kicks up to high for a few minutes to clear the air!
I am so impressed by this unit, that I have purchased six more, for a total of seven. We have a large house and I want two in my living area, two in my family room, one in my bedroom and one in each kid bedroom.
The unit is much quieter than the Honeywell and I like the fact that I do not have to replace the filter.
Only time will tell if it is a good product for several years, but right now this is a GREAT PRODUCT!!
