(More customer reviews)Bulb needs replacement after @ 2000 hours of use. The bulb needs to be the one designed for the Slant/Fin humidifier, not any old UV bulb. It has a small bead of metal (? mercury) in the bulb that acts as an activator. Once replaced, the small yellow light goes out on the humidifier indicating that it is working. So far, it is working well. The problem is finding it on the internet. Prices range from $13.00 to $24.00

Vornado MD1-0002 Humidifier Wicks Review

We live in the Southwestern desert and our family members all have naturally dry skin so our humidifiers practically run year around (one in each bedroom, 365 nights a year). I only need to replace these filters about twice a year because, every month, I soak them in vinegar to remove the hard water deposits. This keeps the filters supple and able to absorb/output more moisture into the air. Don't buy the cheap "fakes" on eBay; get the original Vornado filters; they'll last a whole lot longer than the "fakes". Love the Vornado humidifiers too -- easiest to use and clean!

(More customer reviews)Before ordering a replacement HEPA filter for your Honeywell (or other brand) Air Cleaner, be sure to check the model number on the unit. This filter is for the smaller round unit (Model 10500) and for the smaller of the two upright units with handles (Model 17000). I replace my HEPA filter every year because I am very allergic to cigarette smoke, pollens, dust, molds, and other allergens and irritants. Also, this HEPA filter has pre-filters that wrap around it, so you may want to order a box of those, too. The pre-filters should be changed every 3 months, but I check them more often and vacuum off any accumulated pet hair.
